Baby boy, one, dies after mum leaves him in hot car as temperatures reached 37C

A baby boy has died after his mum allegedly left him inside the vehicle for several hours.

The little one-year-old was rushed to hospital after being left in the car in Miami, Florida, which officials said reached 37C within 10 minutes.

Officers raced to the Mall near Bird Road at around 1pm yesterday and surrounded a Nissan Altima that witnesses said belonged to the mother.

Local employees said the mother parked outside of the beauty shop, where she works, at around 8:30am and then went inside the store.

Several hours later they said she went back outside to where her car was and discovered that her son was in need of medical attention, according to Miami-Dade Police.Witness Juan Carmenat told 7News : 

“I heard there were screaming in the back, and then I just rushed back to see what was going on, and the baby was in the floor."

Rescue crews rushed the young boy to Kendall Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
