Atiku Abubakar accuses Buhari-led government of destroying his business as he sells off his shares in Intels

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has reportedly been selling off his shares in Intels, a company he co-founded with an Italian national Gabriele Volpi, to provide integrated logistics services for Nigeria’s maritime, oil and gas sectors. Intels signed an agreement with the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) in 2010 to collect revenue on behalf of the federal government agency on some port operations, but there has been many issues from the deal on grounds of alleged illegalities. Markus Braun, the former CEO of Wirecard, has been arrested in Germany after $2.1 billion went missing at the digital payments company. Munich prosecutors confirmed Tuesday that Braun was arrested on suspicion of possibly having inflated Wirecard's balance sheet and sales through fake transactions with third parties in order to make the company more attractive to investors and customers. Wirecard acknowledged on Monday that €1.9 billion ($2.1 billion) in missing cash, which made up roughly a quarter of its assets, probably never existed in the first place. The company withdrew its preliminary results for 2019, the first quarter of 2020 and its profit forecast for 2020. Iran restarts uranium enrichment toward 20% target, making it easier to develop nuclear bomb

The Islamic Republic of Iran has restarted uranium enrichment toward a 20% target at its Fordow nuclear facility, a government spokesman said on Monday, January 4, according to the semi-official news agency Mehr and state news agency IRNA. Taking Nuclear enrichment towards 20% makes it easier for Iran to develop a nuclear bomb. The nuclear enrichment would breach the nuclear deal negotiated between Iran and the international community in 2016, that stopped Iran's nuclear program in return for lifting of international sanctions. Iran currently enriches its uranium stockpile up to around 4.5%, which is above the 3.67% cap imposed by the 2015 nuclear deal, but far short of the 90% that is considered weapons-grade.

Unknown gunmen suspected to be armed robbers on Wednesday, March 28, shot dead the youth leader of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Etsako West local government of Edo State, Samson Sedi. The 5% proposed VAT on all online purchases via bank cards seems to have ignited the "wrath" of Nigerians as they took to Twitter to share their opinion. FIRS chairman Babatunde Fowler in an interview with Premium Times, said that the tax agency is working on ways to get a cut from the digital economy in the country. “We will address the issue of the digitalised economy very soon. Nigeria has not taken a position yet. But, we are meeting to see if we can come up with a global solution that we can all adapt to, ” he had said.4 The 5% proposed VAT means that the FIRS will charge N500 for every N10,000 transaction made with a bank card.
